Pollen Sweaters has grown into a thriving home-based business since 1986 when we decided to produce a line of simple clothing that would be comfortable, durable and easy to care for.

In 2005, our friend Nancy encouraged us to we open our own retail shop in Lund, B.C., in a space above her bakery. The store is open year round offering not only sweaters, but a line of natural fiber clothing, quality fiction and local interest books and locally made crafts and treasures such as alpaca socks and felted hats.

Inspired by the old-fashioned woollen work shirts worn by loggers and fishermen here on the west coast of British Columbia, we wanted to incorporate the virtues of pure wool into this practical garment, while avoiding the familiar problems of shrinkage and itchiness.

We found the solution by using the highest quality Superwash wool, which we knit into a deep double rib. The resulting fabric is strong, stretchy and never loses its shape, even after repeated machine washing.

Our sweaters are now worn day after day by those who work and play outdoors in the cold and wet of Canada's west coast.
